Group Camp 2022 – A Scout’s report

Date: 14th Oct 2022 Author: Cathy Mollart

What a weekend we had! It was full of fun and the activities were great. Fortunately we had wonderful weather the whole weekend and no rain although it was chilly at night.

Activities included archery, tomahawks, rafting, kayaking, paddleboarding, water rockets, making donuts, crafts and playing games. Throughout the weekend we competed for ickies ready for the trading game on Sunday. My favourite activity was paddleboarding as I do not do it very often, so it was great to have the chance to do it at camp, but I enjoyed all of them.

At lunch and dinner we enjoyed delicious barbecue and lots of cake!

At breakfast we had cereal and bacon/sausage buns, which were just as good. We had all brought cake with us and the cake supplied us with energy throughout the weekend.

My funniest moment was when we were paddleboarding. I climbed onto Harry’s paddle board and he started to try and rock me off. However I managed to keep my balance until he fell off the board instead!

The icky cup was where we competed in four different groups to earn ickies for the trading game. In the trading game we bought items from the ‘shop’ to make something new and trade it with another group for more ickies. Overall the winners were dolphinstone, then stagoneye, next ravenest and last of all candidowl.

I’m already looking forward to next year
