Christmas from.. the Queen!

Date: 16th Jan 2020 Author: Matt

On the 11th December 2019, Wrde Cubs spent our evening making Christmas cards and decorations. The card that was chosen as the best designed would be sent to wish the Queen a Happy Christmas!

Tomos with the letter from the Queen

Tomos won our competition and we made sure to send his card off to the palace.  Unfortunately, we didn’t manage to get a picture of the card before it was posted!

But then, unexpectedly, we received a response!

The response reads:

The Queen wishes me to thank you for the splendid homemade card you sent for Christmas.

Her Majesty is most grateful for your kind message and I am to thank you for your thoughtfulness in writing at this time which is greatly appreciated.

Signed, Mary Morrison (Lady-in-Waiting)

Vorda Cubs have also previously received a response dated 22nd January 1989.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
