Rafting Instructor Course

Date: 26th April 2020 Location: Ferny Crofts Scout Activity Centre Sections: Adult Volunteer

This one day course will train and assess the competence of candidates to lead groups in Traditional Rafting activities.

Permits may be restricted to specific classes of water or locations.

Topics that are covered are;

  • responsibilities
  • group management
  • risk assessment
  • weather
  • technical factors
  • emergency procedures
  • equipment

Gain a Scout Permit in Traditional Raft Building. Candidates must be a member of the Scout Association.

This course is not catered, so please bring a packed lunch, although tea and coffee will be provided throughout. You will be working outdoors, so please wear appropriate clothing and bring waterproofs.

The day will run from approximately 9:00am to 5:00pm.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
